Carl Weismann - Danish legendary pioneer bird voice recording engineer, working for the Danish State Radio in Copenhagen - HATED dogs! Yeah, well - he hated their barking spoiling every other of his recordings of singing birds - he became a master in cutting them out of his bird tapes - in those days - the 50ies - there was no other way to do it than with a pair of scissors! So he ended up with two piles of tapes - one with bird voices and one with dog voices. The dogs really were doomed to be thrown out - but then Carl got an idea! He cut together a tape of various toned dog barks set to the music of 'Jingle Bells'. He had no further intentions, than it might be fun for a Danish children radio show. HOW it in 1955 ended up on a 45 rpm with 3 other tunes 'Patty Cake', 'Three Blind Mice' and 'Oh Susanna' as a four-tune medley - I simply don't know. But the disc was released by RCA in USA and sold 500.000 copies. Release in Britain around the same time was on Pye-Nixa label, on a 78 rpm disc. In Sweden it has been seen on the Metronome label. Howard Smith, host of a four-hour talk-music show over WABC-New York FM outlet, WPLJ who liked to play anything weird or new on his program first started playing the original 45 rpm disc at Christmas 1970. I Filmed the video using a just purchased Panasonic Lumix TZ1. I was bicycling through Venice Beach California when I came upon the skateboarding dog. This was probably the only time I used the Lumix's wide screen movie mode. I suspect one of the biggest reasons my video was selected, second only to the awesome Tillman, was not much user generated 16:9 content was available on youtube.(iphone is 16:9) Originally the first video had the soundtrack "Giving In" by linkin Park. Once the video appeared in iphone commercials I panicked and removed the video from youtube because of the attention and I had no rights to use the song. As time approached for Apple's release of the iphone with youtube, youtube contacted me and requested I reinstate the video without the soundtrack. Youtube wanted users to be able to view the skateboarding dog in the store and after purchasing their iphone. Unfortunately youtube gave me only a few hours to re-edited video before the iphone release. The original background sound on most of the clips was ruined by hysterical laughter from a woman watching Tillman so I cut and pasted sound in from other parts of the video to cover ...

Here is Rum from 12 months to 18 months, learning how to weave. We did about 5 mins inline at 12 months then put them away until he was 14 months and worked on them once a week. When he was about 15-16 months we did 5 minutes every day. I started luring with a tennis ball flinger and gradually moved it to the side of the weaves and then behind my back & then moved it away - phasing it out slowly. He is doing 12 weaves in 2.8 seconds. MORE IN DEPTH DESCRIPTION I only did it twice at 12 months in terms of him following the ball flinger through the weaves, he's such a big dog so I left it till he was about 14 months to do any more. So how I started was to get him following the ball flinger generally, then flicking it out (not a long way, just to give the reward). He was quite quick to pick this up as had already been taught the target stick. Then we started with upright weaves, we started with 6, but moved quickly onto 12. So basically just got him following the flinger through the weaves, works well as the dog is not then relying on following your arm and you aren't bending over all the time either. So when he was getting them quite well following the flinger I could then start to fade out the flinger, this was only when he was weaving consistently and fairly quickly and on both sides. Fading out is quite easy with the flinger as you can move onto having the flinger running alongside the weaves and just giving it a little movement in towards the weaves when the dog goes in ...

For all of you wondering if this is a bad idea having them lying together like that "The Siberian Husky has a gentle nature but is also active, alert and outgoing. They are good with children, but being a pack animal, new babies should be socialised with the dogs. " Also "Note to parents with new born babies. Any change in attitude towards the dog can cause jealousy. This can be said of any breed of dog, cats and even some parrots, not only the Siberian Husky. If your dog is an inside dog and will be moved outside once the new baby comes. Make sure you have moved the dog outside well before 'new baby' comes along so the dog does not associate the two events as being related, ie new baby = move outside. Again, let me emphasize, that this applies to all breeds of dogs. So much pain and heartache can be avoided if you try to look at the situation from the dog's point of view. They are part of the family and don't want to be left out." Which is exactly what we did (we were very careful)

The breed belongs to the Spitz genetic family. It is recognizable by its thickly-furred double coat, sickle tail, erect triangular ears and distinctive markings. An active, energetic and resilient breed whose ancestors came from the extremely cold and harsh environment of the Siberian Arctic and were bred by the Chukchi of Northeastern Asia, it was imported into Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush and spread from there into the United States and Canada, initially as a sled dog. It rapidly acquired the status of a family pet and a show-dog. History ---------- Siberian Huskies are still used occasionally as sled dogs in dogsled racing but have been widely replaced by the more popular Alaskan Husky and hound-type crossbreeds that are specially bred and selected for speed and have less heavy coats. These tricks are completely mixed together in a random order. These are just a few of the many tricks they can do. These animals are extremely intelligent and if you tap into this at an early age, there is no limit to what you can teach them. ( When I shoot them "dead" I then leave the room.
